Final Update for Thursday

4:30 pm

According to the NWS they intentionally started the advisory early tonight to give a heads up to people who are going to travel overnight. They also said later shifts may refine the timing. Probably not the best way to handle it. I think we are going to wake up to it. Or YOU are going to wake up to it. For some reason I have not been able to sleep past 1 am this week, the good news is I get the info out early. The front is west of Vegas right now. It hasn’t started snowing yet in NW Arizona, but NWS in Flagstaff thinks it will be in NE Arizona by 4 am. We’ll see. Don’t panic if you wake up and look outside and nothing is happening. There has been one revision on timing so far and if it strengthens through the night it could slow it down. The GFS recovered this afternoon and now has a second storm (again) on Sunday. The precip liquid equivalent will be light but with high temps in the low to upper 20’s countywide, the snow can get very productive with very little moisture content. I should have an update early tomorrow morning.  By the way, there are a couple of chances for more storms, I am starting to track one around the 8th and another around the 12th.

5am reports from Snotel sites around Wolf Creek not looking great. Thought it’d say 6-9 inches overnight… So, this thing really did slow down.
