Most significant Winter Storm Warning of the season issued for the mountains

Stay tuned today, I am going to have an update in the mid-morning around 9 am and another this afternoon. This will not be the biggest storm for lower elevations but the NWS issued a WSW (Winter Storm Warning) with the highest forecasted totals of the season. It is a very broad warning so I will try to detail it out a little better today.

…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
5 AM MST THURSDAY…

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 10 to
24 inches expected. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE…Portions of northwest, southwest and west central
Colorado.

* WHEN…From 5 PM this afternoon to 5 AM MST Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could become very difficult at
times. Heavy snow rates and blowing snow could significantly
reduce visibility at times. Icy to snow-packed roadways would
also significantly reduce traction.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
