Stormy Afternoon & Evening

8 am

This afternoon and evening could be pretty stormy. A strong line of thunderstorms could develop over our area and track from SE Utah across SW Colorado through Cortez, Mancos Hesperus ending up in Durango around 4:00 pm. So, obviously earlier than that in the areas to the west and later for the areas to the west. After this initial line of thunderstorms occurs we may get a bit of a break, but it will be short-lived, I do expect heavy precipitation to come in between 8 pm and midnight. Here is what the HiRes WRF shows for precip through late Wednesday, it is important to note that much of the low elevation rain looks as if it could occur by midnight.

As far as the snow goes, keep in mind there will be some melting below 10,500 feet but there are areas at or above 11,000 (think snowpack) that could get 2-3 feet of snow over the next couple of days.

I will take a look at the late morning models, if something, in particular, stands out I will do another update.
