An East Of The Divide Storm

Another week another storm, too bad it’s not for us! This is basically a repeat of what we have seen. Snow for most of the state but not us.  Areas that saw light snow with the last system will see it again and cold air will filter behind it. I would expect Wolf Creek will see some effects from this system as well as Red Mountain, but I would classify it as normal winter driving conditions for those areas, more of a nuisance than anything else.

Here is what the projected accumulations look like this morning.

One thing that is interesting is seeing the snow into Oklahoma and Texas with this system, this cold air will likely cause more severe weather across the south as the fall tornado season is getting an early start this year, look for that to continue with the next system next week.

Speaking of next week, the Euro is still showing that system far enough west to generate a little snow for us and cold enough to have it fall in town. The GFS on the other hand flip flops back and forth between a Front Range storm and a complete miss for Colorado. The Euro has been very consistent with the path, but we are still about 6 days out, so it is too early to make plans around it.  I will do another update on Friday afternoon and hopefully will be able to give you a better time frame, but now it looks like Tuesday-Wednesday. If this happens the way the models are showing the high temps on Halloween day could be in the low 30’s downtown, stay tuned…
