Light Snow Today, Mainly In The Higher Elevations

1/21/22 Friday 8:15 am

The models are showing light snow breaking out between 11 am and 2 pm, the snow will be confined to the higher elevations. The models are no longer showing the potential for snow in the lower elevation areas. The mid-elevation areas from Vallecito to Glacier may accumulate an inch or so. Most of the other mid-elevation areas south of Glacier will only see a dusting at best.

I expect 1 to 3 inches at Telluride, Silverton, Wolf Creek, Coal Bank, and Molas passes. Slightly more at Red Mountain and Ouray where 2 to 4 inches could fall.

The NDFD model is the most aggressive model this morning for accumulations. Here are the snow and liquid forecasts. Look at these, taking into consideration that most of the other models are forecasting less than this.
