According to the models, light snow is on the way for much of the forecast area. I have to admit, I considered ignoring this little storm. My thinking was if I ignored it, it would show up and outperform the model forecasts.
The models are trending in the direction for the northern portions of the forecast area and the eastern portions of the forecast to get a little snow. The models show the snow starting this afternoon in the northern portions of the forecast area and spreading south this evening. The models are showing 1 to 4 inches of snow across the forecast area. The highest amounts are showing up at Wolf Creek, Telluride, and the 550 passes. The next highest amounts are showing up from Gem Village to Pagosa. The lowest amounts are showing up everywhere west of Durango.
The snow should end in most areas by Wednesday morning. Thursday, another small system will try to drop down from north to south. I think most of the energy will stay east of our area.
High pressure will really build in this weekend over our area as the trough over the eastern half of the US deepens. If you are flying to or from the east coast of the US this weekend, keep a close eye on the weather.
My next update will be Thursday. Thanks for following and supporting the site!
