Quick Update

6:45 am

This is efficient snowmaker should move out of the area early today, unfortunately. I have seen nothing in the models that leads me to believe anything different.

If you have plans between Wednesday night and next Monday or Tuesday you will need to keep a close eye on things because the models are starting to transition this from a well-defined storm or two into a several day event. With brief to half day lulls as waves come through. Unfortunately, for lower elevations, it may contain every type of weather imaginable.

All of that being said the models could flip back to a couple of forecastable storms.  The amounts that the models are coming up with over the next 7-10 days are irrelevant until they figure out what is going to happen. This will cause your various weather apps to go back and forth between inches to feet so I would caution you not to rely on them just yet. I saw one model the new GFS FV3 show 65 inches from Purgatory to Telluride and 48 in town Durango over the next week, at the same time the Euro showed 1.5 inches of rain make 11 inches of snow and slush in Durango and 20 inches of snow at the resorts.

Nobody has a handle on this one yet and likely won’t anytime soon.

I will check back in after the morning model runs.
