A Rare Evening Update

8:15 pm

It really picked up out west so I wanted to share what I know, the latest HiRes model run was pretty ambitious and keeps this thing going through tomorrow. Everyone out east south of 240 is scratching their heads wondering what is going on. As far as I can see they are just too far east and too low for the lower level moisture flow. Here is the latest water vapor imagery.

As I said earlier a portion of this should make its way into our area, the flow has been southwesterly but it doesn’t seem to be deep (low) enough to affect the lift to generate the snow for Bayfield to Forest Lakes, I also believe the system is too far south for areas from Rockwood to Molas. I hope that changes, we will see.

On the west side, I did a flashlight measurement and we are now at 23 1/4 inches for the storm total, 23 degrees, 22 dewpoint, with roughly 1 inch per hour snowfall rates. We have officially broken the 2009-10 season totals for Dwest area.
