Sunday Surprise

11/23/25 Sunday 4:30 am

My favorite model miss is when snow-level forecasts are too high! How nice to wake up to snow this morning at DWGHQ! At the moment, it’s coming down pretty good with an inch or so and 33 degrees.

In the as far as we know column, it appears we are just getting started with the models increasing their totals for today in the lower and middle elevations.

I can’t tell what’s going on at Purgatory. BTW, Lake Purg people, is your snow stake going to get fixed?

Light snow at Wolf Creek, and so far, the flow is not yet favorable for Telluride. For now, cautious optimism and patience while this storm continues to approach our area. Models say the best is yet to come. I would expect snow levels to rise again by mid-morning.

The storm appears to be tracking a bit further south than expected, but appearances can be wrong. Assuming that is happening, it would explain the models bumping their totals slightly in the lower and mid elevations. We will see.
