If you are an extremely positive person, you have been enjoying the dry, warm weather. If you want more of that, you are going to get it.
Every morning, it’s the same story: I pull up the overnight model runs and look at one thing (parameter): The 15-day forward-looking total precipitation on the Euro and the 16-day total on the GPS.
If there is ANYTHING at all, I go back through them to look at what the source of precipitation was. For the last 5 days. There has not been anything at all. Today there was!
Kinda good news, I guess. But it is so far away, it may just be an anomalous run. Or not, ridges don’t last forever. Models are showing this stubborn ridge, which has been responsible for our dry weather and the extraordinary winter across the eastern half of the US and the “Deep South”, finally starting to flatten out. That would open the door to late-season cooler weather and winter storms.
It’s too early to do anything more than make a note of it and wait for the next model run. If we have consistency for the next 5 days or so, I can start diving into the details. I would caution people not to even think about gardening; don’t fall for that temptation, it likely won’t end well. When (not if) the pattern changes, we will likely go to the opposite end of this spectrum.
