11:00 am
Things are starting to go according to plan and it looks like the morning Euro is nailing the timing so I am going to share its 6-hour snapshots with you through this entire storm. The 32-degree line on there may not be that accurate because even a higher resolution model like the Euro has a 5.6-mile margin of error, you know how significant that can be in our counties.
Remember on all of these snapshots the darker the color the harder the precipitation, blue is snow, green is rain, pink is freezing/mix, orange is ice.
Here was what it had between 5 and 11 am this morning
This afternoon between 11 am and 5 pm
Euro between 5pm and 11 pm
Overnight tonight 11pm to 5 am Sunday
Sunday 5 am to 11 am
Sunday 11 am to 5 pm
Sunday 5 pm to 11 pm
Sunday 11 pm to 5am Monday
Monday 5 am to 11 am
Monday 11 am to 5 pm
For the moment that is when it looks like it will end.
Here is the total liquid equivalent.
The data I had this morning on snow levels showed 8000 feet. With the temperature at 7400 of 40 degrees. Obviously, that was wrong with the weather station at Dwest 2 now reading 35 and several reports of snow at 7400 feet and above. The snow in Purgatory is really picking up and the temp is back down to 31. Based on the Euro I think Purgatory will end up with 12-18 out of this system Telluride should do about the same depending on how the wind ends up tomorrow.
Other amounts are going to be very difficult to determine if you are between 8000 and 8,500 feet I think you can multiply the liquid amounts by 8-10 to give yourself a range of how much snow to expect. This will put many of folks towards the top of Durango Hills in the 10-15+ range. A little more for the Lemon area. The same thing for Mayday 10-18+.
Below 8,000 feet will be difficult to predict with any degree of accuracy at the moment. But I may have a better handle on it a little later this afternoon. The highest snow levels of the entire system were forecasted to be between 11am and 5pm this afternoon, so I think I need to get past that to get a better handle on things.
Keep the reports coming and try to let me know the time it is occurring.
