Most areas have had some rain the last couple of days. Some areas have had a lot of rain the last couple of days. This should continue today and tomorrow afternoon and evening. Showers should continue on Friday, the caveat may be the cloud cover. If it is too cloudy it takes a while for convection to fire off and thunderstorms to build. This weekend it could dry out, or, we could get hit with tropical moisture from the remnants of a tropical storm.
The National Hurricane Center says there is a 90% chance of this storm developing and tracking parallel to the southwest Mexican coast and the Baja California peninsula. The next piece of the puzzle is where the high pressure sets up over the Central States. If it is further east it will pull that tropical moisture right into our area. If it drops it retrogrades further west the moisture will be just to our west. Those traveling to Utah or Arizona will want to keep an eye on this situation. In either scenario, Arizona and southern Utah are likely to get some very heavy rain. We will just have to wait and see how things come together for our area.
