Thursday Update

8/15/24 Thursday 7:15 am

It’s day 2 of dry weather. The latest model runs are struggling, but they show dry conditions through Saturday for most of the forecast area. However, the higher elevations will have a slight chance of daily afternoon convection.

The models show a better chance of wider-spread showers on Sunday and Monday. I would caution that the model spread is wide, and there is no consensus on where the low and mid-elevation showers will show up. Time will tell. Let’s give it a couple of days.

On a less boring note. I had a chance to read the latest ENSO discussion. I am looking forward to the September discussion next month. Looking at early La Nina model forecasts, I am very pleased with what I see. If the current forecast holds, a very productive Winter may be coming!
