Sunday Update

12/22/24 Sunday 6 am

A storm will move close to us and perhaps even skirt the northern mountains today. The only effect I see from this is a dramatic increase in humidity. That would be a relief!

PWAT (precipitable water values) across the forecast area will reach over 200% of normal for this date by later tonight. No model shows snow or rain, but I would not rule out a few flurries above 8,500 feet.

All models still show a weak storm moving in Christmas day and bringing some snow.

Here are the models’ snow output values for our area from Wednesday morning through Thursday morning.

Canadian

GFS

European–Not sure what is up with the North Valley donut hole.

German

It still looks like another small system will roll in late Thursday into Friday; details are still sketchy this far out.
