The widespread light snow event will begin tonight in the higher elevations, drifting south overnight and through the day tomorrow. It will likely be Tuesday before flakes fall in the lowest elevations. Cold temperatures will aid in developing high SLRs (snow-to-liquid ratios), making the most out of a very dry precipitation event.
Initial indications indicate 4 to 8 fluffy inches in the higher elevations. Mid-elevation areas could receive 2 to 5 inches of snow, with 1 to 3 inches at or below 7,000 feet.
These are preliminary amounts that may change with the next suite of model runs due out over the next 6 hours.
I have been fielding questions regarding my predicted pattern change. I plan to talk more about that on Thursday. I still believe it is coming, possibly sooner than you would think.
