Thank you all, the notifications are blowing up, just like the Stoner Mesa fire just did today.
Here is the culprit.

Thank you all, the notifications are blowing up, just like the Stoner Mesa fire just did today.
Here is the culprit.

8/5/25 Tuesday 7:15 pm
I received an email about smoke in Telluride, originating from the general direction of Mt. Wilson. I no longer have the cool access to all the things fire I used to. Nudge, nudge. Anyway, with my resources, I have no idea. My first thought was the fire near Cahone spilling up smoke. But that is inconsistent with the reporting of the smoke building near Wilson.
For now, I have no idea. If you do, please click on the blue link below and let me/us know.

I had something come up, and I don’t want to rush my extended outlook, so I am aiming to get it out on Wednesday.
Nothing too bad, just an appointment, an appliance delivery (my oven died), and potentially unexpected guests.
It happens at a good time, because there will be no weather to speak about before Wednesday–If that changes, I will jump on and let everyone know.
Thanks for your patience.
8/2/25 Saturday 5 am
I am aghast that it is August! 117 days until Thanksgiving! ooshka
Happy Saturday!
Not much to report today; it’s expected to be windy, seasonally warm, and dry. More fire danger etc. etc.
As I was saying, there’s not much here.

Heads up, tomorrow should be a lot like today. But I am going to look into the extended models because a lot of early winter forecasts are coming out, mostly clickbait. Check in tomorrow, when I will try to cut through the headlines.
8/1/25 Friday 11:30 am
Woke up forgetting two appointments. One out of the house, the other at the house, and the house was a complete mess. I was so busy, didn’t remember the update until 10:30. At that point, it was just an hour or so away from the updated European model run dropping, so I waited it out.
I am glad I did, it shows less coverage than the last two runs.

Slight chances for Hermosa to Glacier, as well as Archuleta County. Scattered from Purgatory to Silverton and over to Telluride, as well as the Wolf Creek Pass area.
We will see. I will do a regular early update tomorrow morning. At this point, I am only expecting a slight chance of showers in the high elevations on Saturday and a dry Sunday

The “kitten” is 7 pounds now. The bigger boy in front is going to be 16 years old. He can outrun her, because she is a terrorist- turn around and flip her over his head.
That being said, every afternoon they take naps together in one basket. She is extending his life, which was our goal. Every time we brought that boy to the vet, the doc said, “Thanks for bringing me the perfect cat ever.”
I think this girl will eventually become the most gifted female cat we have ever had.
Very smart, over 7 pounds already at 6 months– is that right, Suzanne? This kitten’s name keeps evolving, right now, and for a while, I have called her Poopie.
I love pets, but not everyone does. But there is no argument that if you love pets, they love you twice as much.
Just a quick plug for no reason other than they are fantastic. Cat Care Durango. If you own a cat or love cats, consider visiting them at their fantastic cat-focused facility.
Sus was napping this afternoon, and these babies were making sure she was ok, so attentive!

They love their Momma.

Happy Thirsty Thurday! No, not happy hour in the 80s. Thirsty as in we are thirsty for some rain.
I actually have gotten reports of decent down pours in the lower and mid-elevation areas the last 48 hours. If it wasn’t you, don’t despair you are not alone, most of us did not.
I got a message from my weather station that it was raining. I think some smart prankster kids dripped some water on it. Sounds like something I would have done as a kid. I remember fondly those days. Everybody is so serious these days so we don’t see as much of that behavior these days!
Enough reminiscing…
Here are maps for today.

The blue line separates slight chances from scattered showers today.

I put that to show where showers are likely. It is basically around Purgatory and up to Molas.
I will talk about tomorrow and the weekend, tomorrow.
7/30/25 Wednesday 6 am
Good morning, almost halfway to the weekend!
Yesterday, the real weather did not care what the models thought. Hopefully, we will see more production today!
Here is the forecasted shower coverage.

SCT=Scattered LKL=Likely SL=Slight chances

I can’t talk about tomorrow or beyond right now because the models have completely flipped their forecasts over the past 6 hours. Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of Dart Board Weather!
7/29/25 Tuesday 5:30 am
Good morning, Monday is over!
A little-known fact, all things being equal, Tuesday mornings from 6 to 11 am are the most-read posts. I don’t know why…
The models continue to increase the chance of showers today. Here is the coverage map.

Here are the categories.

The southern half of the forecast area would typically be classified as SL-Slight Chances; however, the blob near the airport warrants an upgrade to SCT-Scattered. This does not necessarily mean showers will target the airport area. It means the models are seeing something that leads them to forecast a few heavier showers showing up in the lower elevations. Where? We don’t know; it’s a dartboard calculation.
Rain reports are encouraged. If you have totals today, send them in tomorrow morning.
7/28/25 Monday 4:30 am
Good Morning! Welcome to your Marvelous Monday.
Today is a transitional day, with shower chances increasing on Tuesday. Today, there is a slight chance of showers in the mid- to higher-elevation areas.
SL=Slight Chance of Showers

I had a productive day with emails yesterday, I have a little more on my plate today. I will get to everyone. Thank you, everyone, for re-igniting my passion in what I do!
