The only thing worse than not getting snow is being (seemingly) the only ones not getting snow. We are entering a classic phase 4 of the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) if you don’t remember what the MJO is, click “Technical Talk” at the top and scroll down to that post.

You can see how this dominates the lower 48. The first relative warmth we have seen since September.

As I said we are not alone. Check out the current 10-day snow forecasts. Keep in mind these will be highly influenced by the MJO forecast, so will be very subject to change. All it really tells us is the models agree with themselves.
