A shortwave trough is approaching from the west, ramping up heavier snow across the area. After this passes snow should return to being lighter and more sporadic. There are some signs that the trough is strengthening slightly. If this happens and the trough is stalled over the area we could see significant accumulations. Another wave of energy may come across the area this evening. If that is the case snow rates will again be on the increase again.
I have no changes in the forecasts. As I have said I am going to be too low for many locations by the time this ends on Monday. It will be a short break for us on Monday before another system comes in Monday night and Tuesday.
There were a few articles out today on the AR event that is going to hit California’s Sierra over the next 7 to 10 days. This is not a unique event, it happens at some point nearly every year. It is more rare than common, that any of that abundant moisture makes its way over to us. Although, if you remember several days ago, the Canadian was saying that would happen next weekend. I am not going to rule it out completely, but I would not get your hopes up for it.
The Next Update will be Monday afternoon unless I see something that needs to be addressed earlier. Thanks for the reports, there are not a lot of them today, I think most people are out enjoying the snow. As always, thanks for following and supporting the page.
Located on 502 near lemon and Vallecito at around 7800 feet- we’ve had near whiteout conditions for about an hour and a half. We’ve had about 7” fall since 12am. It doesn’t seem to be letting up either!
