About 5 seconds after I posted my forecasts yesterday NWS changed its mind regarding the totals. It is still snowing in most areas at a pretty decent rate so we will see how we end up. I expect most areas to be done by 11 am but snow will continue into the afternoon for northern portions of the forecast area.

I will do a normal update later today, but I wanted to share this in case people had travel plans.

CDOT to perform winter maintenance operations on US 550 Red Mt. Pass this morning

US 550 Red Mountain Pass

CDOT will perform winter maintenance operations on US 550 Red Mountain Pass between Silverton and Ouray this morning. Crews will close the highway at 8 a.m. Northbound travelers will encounter a closed gate near Red Mountain Pass summit (MP 80). Southbound travelers will encounter a closed gate just south of Ouray (MP 91). Do not attempt to bypass the closed gates.  

Travelers can expect a lengthy closure for much of the morning. Visit cotrip.org for the latest information on road closures and conditions. 

Travelers should also be aware that during the winter season, snow conditions may require additional maintenance work and safety closures at any time on many southwest Colorado highways.
