7/22/25 Tuesday 4 am
Good morning. The first mixed precipitation of the season is indicated on the radar this morning! There is no way to verify this, but it is fun to see, and about 10 days earlier than I usually see it.

Here is the model shower coverage map for this afternoon.

After years of doing this it is easy to take for granted that everyone understands what I am talking about at any given time.
I throw around terms like “slight chances of precipitation,” “chance of scattered showers,” and “chance of widespread showers” daily, assuming that everyone understands that.
To quantify those terms in percentages, it looks like this.
Slight equals a 10-20 percent chance.
Scattered showers indicate 30 to 40 percent chances.
Widespread showers equal 50% or greater.
Showers are likely refers to a 70% or greater.
Here is how that looks on the map. The deeper the color, the better the chances of seeing accumulating precipitation. You should see four shades of green below.

So, for today, just a slight chance (but not zero) of showers in the lower elevations. Better chances as you travel higher in elevation. Wednesday no longer looks as wet as it did 24 hours ago. However, if you have plans, please check in tomorrow morning, as it could change back.
