Advisories Issued, Thoughts on Snow Totals

8 am

More clouds than sun today as SW winds bring moisture into the atmosphere above. First flakes and drops should occur mostly later tonight, but I wouldn’t rule out precipitation on the passes this afternoon.  The first advisories were issued, expect more on Friday and perhaps Monday.  The first storm is strong but the NW will favor  Telluride to Ouray and Red Mountain. A lot of snow is possible on the North Side of Red Mountain Pass some of the higher elevations there could see 2 feet of snow. If you are traveling the 550 passes be ready for closures and nearly impossible driving conditions.

To a lesser extent the areas west of Dwest, Hesperus, Mayday, areas northeast of Mancos and north of Dolores will be favored over other areas in the NW flow don’t be surprised to see snow squalls tomorrow by late morning. Here are some preliminary ideas on total snow.

Scroll below the advisories to see the snow totals.

Scattered snow showers will continue over the northern areas likely until the next storm arrives late on Friday. As I mentioned this storm is going to explode over the Upper Midwest check out the snow totals over the Dakotas and SW Minnesota by Friday.
